Is IPL the Right Option for Me?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, a breakthrough cosmetic treatment that restores your skin’s healthy glow without causing damage to its surface. When applied to your face, IPL technology can dramatically improve red and brown pigmentation problems, clearing up your look and walking back the clock by reversing some of the impacts that weather damage can have on your look. You’ll enjoy a series of benefits, including the ability to address the following issues:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Blush of rosacea
  • Age spots
  • Sun-induced freckles
  • Benign brown pigment
  • Persistent red pigmentation
  • Red spots
  • Large blood vessels
  • Acne scars
  • Large pores

How Does IPL Photofacial Work?

The IPL photofacial treatment works by delivering a targeted beam of light into your treatment area, where it addresses issues like brown spots, hyperpigmentation, or enlarged blood vessels. By utilizing a series of light wavelengths, IPL photo facials can be targeted to your specific cosmetic goals, addressing facial impurities without causing any damage or scarring. Best of all, IPL treatments work to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production, which has the added bonus of tightening and toning the nearby tissues.

By gently penetrating the topmost layers of your skin, the IPL photofacial treatment is able to effectively eliminate underlying hyperpigmentation and the visible blood vessels causing damage to your skin. Unlike other treatments—such as chemical peels—that remove an outer layer of skin and require significant healing time, the outer skin itself is not damaged, resulting in a significantly reduced healing process. During your initial consultation, we’ll answer any questions you might have about the procedure and how it works its magic.

Your IPL Photofacial Treatment Experience

Depending on the specifics of your treatment plan, your IPL treatment will only take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete. Several sessions are required for a full-face treatment, and we’ll work with you to craft a treatment schedule that aligns nicely with your existing schedule.

Once your treatment area is prepared, your provider will move their laser over the skin in a grid-like pattern, flashing the light about every centimeter. Depending on your specific needs, your provider may need to go over your treatment area multiple times.

After Your IPL Treatment Session

Following your IPL treatment, your provider will clean your skin and you may find yourself experiencing mild to moderate redness. You can apply your makeup right away, however, if you choose to do so. We recommend that you avoid direct sunlight for at least a week after your session and be sure to apply sunscreen regularly.

Mild to moderate redness may last for up to three days, and you’ll notice that the pigment in your targeted treatment area will also darken over the next 48 hours. This outermost layer of skin will be naturally exfoliated after a week, however, leaving you to enjoy your exciting IPL photofacial results.

Most of our clients experience results immediately, and these results will continue to maximize over the next two weeks. While your results will be temporary, they can last months and even years after you reach your complexion goal. For maximum results, we recommend at least two to three treatments spaced at least one month apart.
