What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that helps improve your look by gradually replacing lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue—for results that can last up to two years.

Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles and works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalize collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume.

During your initial consultation, your provider will also walk you through the details of the procedure, giving you a clear idea of what you can expect both during and after your Sculptra session. The Sculptra Experience

Preparation

Once all makeup or lotions are cleared away from your mouth, nose, and the remainder of your face, your provider will prep the injection site using antiseptic cream. You or your provider may choose to also apply a numbing cream to the site as well, to ensure your comfort.

Treatment

After your face is prepped, your provider will inject one or more syringes into their injection sites and slowly release the gel. Simple injections will take approximately 15 minutes, with more nuanced procedures lasting longer.

Procedure Time

Your Sculptra treatment will last for about one hour, at which point you’ll be free to return to your normal activities. This includes your pre- and post-injection consultations and the 15- to 30-minute procedure. More ambitious treatments take longer to complete.

Post-Injection

Once the product has settled, your provider will clean off the injection site and update you on your post-injection directions. Sculptra is typically administered in three sessions over a few months, with results that can last up to two years.

After Your Session

Possible side effects include redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but these fade quite quickly. You will begin to notice your results immediately, and many of our clients report that their results sometimes last for as long as two years.

As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra is designed to restore the deep, underlying structure of your skin, diminishing facial wrinkles and creating a more youthfully voluminous look in the process.

By stimulating collagen production, Sculptra encourages your body to restore facial volume that has been lost to the aging process, rebuilding and reinforcing your skin’s structural foundation from the inside out.

Through a series of treatments—typically about three sessions over the course of a few months—Sculptra restores the structure and volume of your skin, providing youthful-looking results that can last for up to two years.

Sculptra was first approved 1999 in Europe for filling small facial deficits. It is currently available in more than 40 countries globally.
Sculptra consists of something known as Poly- L-Lactic Acid, a synthetic polymer that has been used in human body since 1960 and as medical suture material since 1970.
