At Aurora Medical Spa in Chesterfield and Ballwin, we are proud to offer Microneedling using the RejuvaPen. With Microneedling, skin tightens; wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, and hyperpigmentation significantly diminish; pores become finer; and the overall health and circulation of the skin is improved. RejuvaPen is a sterile needle head with 9 precisely-spaced micro needles.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling (also referred to as collagen induction therapy or CIT) is a skin therapy that involves puncturing the skin using a grouping of tiny sterile needles, creating micro injuries. These intentional, superficial skin injuries encourage and harness the power of the body’s innate ability to repair the skin through the normal physiology of skin. The purpose of Micro-needling is to promote healing without scars and encourage new collagen production. Micro-needling offers minimal side-effects and down time.
What happens during a Microneedling Treatment
Like all of our cosmetic treatments, a microneedling treatment begins with an in-depth assessment of your skin’s current state. Your Aurora Medical Spa nurse will assess your potential treatment areas and work with you to decide on an appropriate treatment plan.
If your skin’s current condition fits, your nurse will apply a topical anesthetic cream and begin treating the agreed-upon areas. She will make several passes over the area in a gentle motion passing up and down.
Who is a candidate?
RejuvaPen can be used on all skin types. It:
- Minimizes Pore Size
- Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Lifts, Tightens, and Rejuvenates skin, Builds New Collagen and Elastin
- Improves appearance of Acne Scarring
- Improves Hyperpigmentation
- Activates Cell Regeneration
Does it hurt?
Most patients feel the pressure of the microneedling instrument but little more. Aurora Medical Spa offers pain management in the form of a topical anesthetic cream for microneedling.
How often can I get it done?
If your skin is generally fine and you take care of it, you can micro-needle every 3 to 6 months.
What are the risks associated with Microneedling?
Although the majority of patients do not experience any complications with microneedling, it is important you understand that risks do exist. The micro‐needling procedure is minimally invasive, utilizing a set of micro‐needles to inflict multiple, tiny, puncture/lacerations to the outermost layer of the skin. Because micro‐needling penetrates the skin, it inherently carries some health risks. You should discuss any and all health concerns with your Aurora Med Spa esthetician PRIOR to signing the consent form.
