Geek to Chic Continued…
WOW factor! First thing that comes to mind. One thing that I learned from my charming, super handsome, but annoyingly OCD significant other is that details matter. Ugh. I cannot tell you how many times he picks at my outfits to straighten something out, criticize other people’s paint jobs on their walls, align the refrigerator in rows according to drink labels, and well you get it by now. Things to what I thought the normal eye wouldn’t spot or a normal person for that matter would not find or really could care less about. Well boy was I wrong. Life is so much better when things are perfected. And especially these small details on the face can make such an impact.
I recently enticed my super young friend (24ish years old) to try just a simple 3 units. Gasp! That’s right 24 years old. She too grew up in the generation of sun goddess where tan and tasty is better than pale and pasty and just has a genetic makeup with the gift of a solid crease. Overall I rate this girl at 9.7 out of a 10 (before Botox). So it’s something that is generally overlooked and just considered maybe her only flaw. Well she did it. Injected 3 units of Botox and what a difference! Without saying a word to anyone her sister called her out. “You just look better whatever it is that you did.”
Here’s the deal. Everyone needs different amounts. 3 units to 65 units. It depends on your genetics, preventive measures, routine, exposure to the sun, lifestyle habits, ect.. Everyone requires different amounts but that is a great example of how 3 units could make a difference. Botox is relatively affordable and can make some of the greatest impacts on our faces. A good injector will make it that people cannot even tell what was done. It just looks as if a person appears “rested.” If it not perfect the first time…not to worry, Botox is not reversible but it is tweakable. And let’s face it, everyone’s really doing it, just nobody really talks about it.
Finally my personal top favorite that a person will gain instant gratification is filler. Filler can easily make a person instantly more youthful in appearance. It can restore feminine qualities that were lost with the aging process. There are tons of options when it comes to fillers and various areas where it goes. Filler definitely is an art and science combined.
Selecting the appropriate filler and the correct amount definitely matters. Here’s the basic rule of thumb, you need one syringe for every decade of life in age. So 30= 3 syringes. Give or take a little. Filler is substituting a loss of volume in the face. It happens to everyone. Really at the age of 30 we lose approximately 1 ounce of fat in our faces. This causes everything to go south from there. Got to love gravity. This separation usually begins with flattening in our cheeks. Due to this flattening a person may experience a sagging effect creating nasal labial folds (laugh lines) or may even cause fat pads to separate in the tear troughs.
I assure you that filler will easily pull 5-10 years off of a face if strategically placed. Just absolutely magical!
So what’s the moral of this story? We are only given one mind, body, and soul. When we feel our best then we have the potential to be our best self. Think about it (now is YOUR awakening). Life is so much better when you feel good inside out or in this case, outside in. A lot of times we are left concerned about everyone else but ourselves. What a waste! Life is what we make of it. We have to put ourselves first and let all the other pieces fall into place. When I look good I feel good. When I feel good I am a better person all around. Anyhow the girls of the 90s talk shows are a revolution to us all believe it or not. They were the people who gained enough courage to see the potential within themselves and create who they wanted to be to fulfill their best self. Go them! And go us all who envision a better state of being for themselves! We just sometimes have to remember to put our best face forward to get there. Let’s face it!
